I have a question?

What if you find 1 alive kit and 3 dead kits ... will the doe feed the live baby?

***Moderator Comment***
Sorry about the dead bunnies.
Our guess is 'probably.' Depending on why most of the babies were dead. We'd hope 'yes,' and give her the chance to look after the living kit. Don't forget -- she only spends a few minutes per day in the nest, so don't assume she's not caring for the kit if you never see her in the nest. In the AM, check the bunny's tummy. If it is round and full, all is well.

The next biggest concern will be keeping it warm, since it has no one to cuddle with. Try pulling (or brushing) extra fur from the doe to cover the little guy. (Sometimes the doe realizes the need and does it herself.)

Good luck, and God bless you,
K

Single Kits
by: Becky

I have a first time rabbit that had one live kit out of 3. She is feeding it and it has a lot of fur for warmth. She is still pulling it out at times to add to the nest.

conditioning rabbits for pregnancy
by: David

She'll likely feed the one kit, and it will be fat and happy. However to prevent this in the future you can condition your Doe for breeding to prevent still births. This includes adjusting the photo-period and feeding so that your doe doesn't get too fat. Too much body fat during pregnancy suppresses her appetite so that she won't consume enough protein, minerals and other nutrients when they are needed. This is generally why still births occur.

Aw I'm sorry about the dead babies.
The mother will more than likely feed it, if she will not go ahead and bottle feed it with kitten formula.
