You may wonder why a whole rabbit is a good option for your pet. It would seem that ready to eat rabbit meat would be the preffered option, but whole rabbit has lots of nutritional, psychological, and dental benefits for your pet.
At first you may be slightly squeamish at the sight of a whole rabbit waiting to be consumed. Humans have created multi-billion dollar industries to turn our food into post-modern art, so we have the assumption that our beloved pets share this desire. Not so much...
Our pets are created to live, survive, and thrive in the wild, which includes their nutritional needs. Whole prey rabbit means the whole rabbit, which is just about every potential nutrient your pet needs. Naturally there is protein from meat, but there are also vital nutrients found in bones, organs, ligaments, tendons, and the brain. Dogs and cats are designed to get their energy calories from animal fats, not grains and sugars like humans can. Because of all the carbohydrates in kibble food, which dogs and cats are NOT created to eat, this is why pet obesity, diabetes, allergies, and auto-immune disorders have become exponentially epidemic. Our beloved furry companions are suffering from kibble caused malnutrition and food poisoning. Fortunately, whole prey rabbit is a great way to restore Fido and Fluffy's health, with everything God intended for them to eat.
Animals retain far more of their natural instincts. This is why purse princess dogs and couch potato cats get so excited when they see prey animals, and why favorite toys are reminiscent of hunting. Whole prey rabbits satisfy these urges while providing valuable nutrition. Your pampered pooch burns off aggressive energy by the impressive bite and shake technique, which is how they kill dinner in the wild. With whole prey rabbit, they can do this, getting in touch with their inner wolf. Canned or ground meat simply doesn't offer this satisfying experience. Getting to simulate hunting is important stress management therapy for your pet. Once they have successfully "killed" the whole prey rabbit, they gain additional satisfaction from chewing the pieces.
Speaking of chewing... whole prey also helps maintain good dental health. Dog and cat teeth are designed to chew and bite bone. Kibble manufacturers have convinced the general public that grain based cookies are necessary for pet dental health, and that bones will result in immediate death due to choking. If this were true, wild canines and felines, who consistently dine on the bones of their prey, would be extinct. Dog and cat teeth are designed not just for chewing meat, but also ripping and tearing tendons and ligaments, and cracking bones to get to the marrow. Bone marrow is an absolute superfood for pets; it can even help relieve arthritis pain in dogs prone to hip problems.
So now you know: why SHOULD I feed whole prey rabbit to my pet?

"Thank you so much! You have been by far the easiest and most reliable place to get rabbit from. With a 130 lb bull mastiff with more problems than we even know or understand he also appreciates it since rabbit is one of only 4 foods he tolerates...." (Kerry in MA)
Vet bills can be so expensive. Then you have the price of quality pet food. It seems like you need to get a second job to provide for your pet, which now you never get to see because you are at your second job all the time. (Somebody needs to figure out a way we can make money by petting our fur babies.)
The short answer to "Is it worth the money?" is an absolute YES!!! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, not to mention much more cost effective. Feeding your pet quality food prevents the health problems causing all those vet visits plus prescribed medications.
In defiance of common sense, "high quality canned medicinal pet food" is mostly whole grains, NOT the proteins that your pet is literally starving for. So now they are getting the same unhealthful carbohydrates that they shouldn't have been getting in the first place, with some extra synthetic added vitamins that still don't provide adequate nutrition. Additionally, they may not even be getting the dubious dental benefit from crunching dry kibble. It's no surprise that pets on these "healthy" diets see marginal improvement at best. You still have the vet bills, but now more expensive food bills as well.
Pictured: Dogs Bonnie and Clyde are eagerly looking forward to meals of raw rabbit. Sarah M., owner of Bonnie and Clyde, said, "Bonnie immediately took her half rabbit and ate it all. Clyde took his and carried it around for a long while and when he thought no one was looking, buried it. And then dug it up and reburied it in another location. Four times. It was so precious...."

With whole prey rabbit, your pet is getting the nutrition they need while nasty toxins and unwanted carbs are being eliminated. The source of the health problems is being addressed, so the health problems are cured. Better health means fewer vet visits, which is much kinder to your wallet, and significantly improves your pets quality of life. Our furry companions give us so much. In return, delicious healthy food is a far better gift than pet obesity in a 50 pound bag of cheap kibble. Quality food absolutely pays off in the long run, and quite often has almost immediate benefits.

Prices listed are totals*, which include price per pound, shipping, handling, and packaging. The price you see is your final price. *Shipments to HI or AK require an additional shipping surcharge, sorry!*
Insulation: Maybe you want extra insulation and gel packs to keep your orders super cool, especially during summer. We have that upgrade available for only $18 per case. Check it out here: Extra Insulation and Gel Packs
Insurance: Raising-Rabbits offers insurance on all orders! <-- This page has all the FAQs, including instructions and screenshots! Anything you order from Raising-Rabbits can be covered by insurance. Normal UPS insurance doesn't cover frozen items, so we found a company that does. Their rates are very affordable, just 3% of your order (minimum $1.50). If anything happens to your order during shipping, the claim process is fast, simple, and easy. Just file your claim within 30 days of receipt of your order. It takes only about 15 minutes, and they process claims quickly. This option will be available with every order when you check out.
Lead Times: When orders are received, 20-30 pound orders have a 3 week lead time, 50 pound orders have a 4 week lead time. While we are often able to fill orders much sooner, we cannot guarantee it. The supplier does not always have the product ready to ship; sometimes it first needs to be harvested and processed, which can take a few days. Once the product has been processed, it needs to freeze for several days so it will be frozen solid when we ship it to you. We also ship out orders only on Mondays and Tuesdays to avoid the product getting delayed in shipper warehouses over the weekend where it may thaw. These procedures are all necessary to ensure that your order gets to you in good quality.
UPS/FedEx transit time is 2-3 days: Experience indicates that the special packaging will maintain the order partly to completely frozen for at least this long. If for some reason it appears not to be possible to ship within this time frame, we will contact you about this.
Holiday shipping: We do not ship during weeks with federal holidays due to increased shipping fees. However, if you do need your order shipped on a week with a federal holiday, that service is available for a $10 surcharge. It is in our store under the frozen products section, along with Extra Insulation.
If it is imperative that your box arrive solidly frozen, we advise that you choose a 1-day air option at a significantly higher shipping expense. Please ask about this option.

Note: Your raw rabbit package may arrive completely frozen. Or, in some cases, depending on shipping or weather conditions, it may arrive partially or mostly thawed, still containing ice crystals, or cold, indicating very recent thawing. Recent thawing or partial thawing does not necessarily indicate a faulty shipment or spoilage.
Handling: Upon receipt, refreeze the packages. Refreezing is believed to rupture bacterial cells (should any have started to grow), killing them and preserving the quality of the meat. See feeding instructions below.
We’ve listed the products that are most popular with raw rabbit feeding pet owners. If you desire other quantities or raw frozen products, feel free to let us know; we’ll work to obtain the nutrition or treats your dog or cat will profit from and enjoy, if possible.
ATTENTION: Feeding cats a raw rabbit diet exclusively, especially if ground, may
result in a taurine deficiency. Researchers recommend that you supplement
their diets with 375 – 500 mg of Taurine per day. See this link at catsndogsnaturally.com.
(Dogs synthesize taurine efficiently, and thus won’t experience a taurine
deficiency on a raw diet.)
