How much does it cost?

The cost of the insurance is 3% of your order, with the minimum cost being $1.50.

If you ordered our book, The Rabbit Raising Problem Solver, which is $22.62, you would pay the minimum of $1.50, bringing your order total to $24.12.

But if you ordered 20 pounds of raw pet food meat for $219.86, you would pay the 3% cost, $6.60, bringing your order total to $226.46.

When can I get it?

The insurance for orders will be offered to you during checkout. It is completely optional. The name of the company is Route Insurance. There will be a little blue toggle button where you get to choose if you want the insurance. The total for your order, including the insurance, will be right there. (Click the photo at left to enlarge.)


What if I change my mind about the insurance?

If you DID buy the insurance and decide you don't want it, contact us at our email:

As long as your order hasn't shipped yet, you can still purchase the insurance. We will refund your purchase as store credit so that it is immediately available for use. You will purchase the item again with your store credit and add the insurance. Just look for the little blue toggle button on the screen. You can see an example by clicking:

What does it cover?

The insurance covers any damage to the product, including spoilage, that occurs during shipping. It also covers orders stolen, or lost during shipping.

We use UPS to ship our meat orders, which comes with only $50 of insurance. Their insurance does not cover frozen items. If your order was lost, damaged, stolen, or spoiled during shipment, the best UPS will do for you is $50, which is only a fraction of the cost of the order.

ROUTEINS shipping insurance for orders covers the full purchase price of the order, which includes the price of the insurance itself. If you purchased extra insulation and gel packs with your order, then that cost will be covered also.


How do I File a Claim?

Filing a claim is super easy. The process is simple and takes only 15 minutes. Here are step by step instructions:

  1. Go to https://claims.route.com/. Clicking the link will open the claim page in a new tab so you can have these directions handy while you file your claim.
  2. Fill in your email and order number.
  3. You will need a picture of the product in order to file a claim.
  4. At some point, you do need to click the large box at top with a picture of the product purchased. The system doesn’t tell you that, but you have to do it.
  5. The system will want to do a verification code. Fill in a phone number and select [CALL] or [TEXT]. It responds pretty quickly.
  6. Pick the options you want from the drop down menus.
  7. If you want a replacement shipment, click that in the drop down menus. ROUTEINS will automatically re-order for you once the claim is approved. We will send you a confirmation email telling you that we have received your order.
  8. It will have a page where you describe what happened, i.e. why you are filing the claim. It will really help to also have the shipping number. If you don't have the packaging with the shipping number, you can find it in the emails from us about your order.
  9. Agree to Terms of Service (TOS).
  10. They confirm claim has been received and will take 1-3 business days to review. 
  11. Updates on the claim will be sent to your email address. 

How long do I have to file a claim?

You have 30 calendar days to file a claim once you have received your order. If your order was delivered on the 1st, you need to file by the 30th.

If your order was stolen, you have 30 calendar days to file a claim after your order was delivered. If your order was delivered on the 1st, you need to file by the 30th. Save a copy of the delivery notice to use to file a claim.

If the package is lost by the shipper, file a claim within 30 calendar days of being notified by the shipper that it was lost. Save a copy of the message from the shipper saying it was lost.


Can I choose how much coverage I get?

No. ROUTEINS keeps it simple. Your full purchase price is covered, no more, no less. The cost of the insurance is set, as is the coverage you get. No surprises.

Do I need documentation for my claim?

Yes.

If the package was damaged, TAKE PICTURES IMMEDIATELY before throwing anything away. You will need the pictures to file a claim. This includes if the order has spoiled.

How long does it take to process a claim?

ROUTEINS processing time is 1-3 business days after the claim is submitted. If you filed your claim on Friday, you may not hear back until Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.

When your claim is approved, and you selected to have a replacement shipment, ROUTEINS instantly places the replacement order with Raising-Rabbits. We notify you the next business day that we got your order.


How much commission does Raising-Rabbits get from the insurance?

$0. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch.
