My doe's babies die

by Elicia

I bred my doe initially 3 times and her 4th was unexpected. All 4 times her first baby gets stuck, she takes her time to have it and it's dead by time it comes out. Then the rest come out easily but are dead. Why is this happening? What is wrong with her what can I do to help? She only has 2-3 babies and when the rest come out after her first it's half a day later.

RE Dead babies

We have to agree with Silver Desert. Your doe most likely has some sort of structural flaw in her pelvis and is not able to give birth easily.

The only solution relative to *this* doe is to see the vet to determine the problem, and then to perform a C-Section on day 31 to deliver live babies.

It is far more reasonable, in our opinion, to simply enjoy your doe as a pet (keep her away from the boys, or have her spayed), and get another doe whose relatives didn't need C-sections.

Good luck!

Since she is taking so long to have the first one, the rest suffocate and do not make it. The only thing I suggest is stop breeding her and get a new doe if you want to be breeding. If you do not stop breeding this doe now, one of these times she will end up dying herself while giving birth to her litter. So, purchase another good quality young, healthy doe and breed the new doe.
