Maximum breeding age

I have a doe that is approx. 18 months old and has never been bred. Is she too old to breed?

No, not too old.
The question is: is the doe overweight? Its weight may dictate success or failure at 18 months old, more than the age.

Excess fat will reduce the doe's ability both to conceive and to give birth. Do you know the doe's breed or at least its normal weight?

If so, it'll help you know your next steps - either breed the doe, or put it on a diet first (more hay, less pellets, no sweet treats).

What age is it too late to let my little girl have her first family?
by: susanbunnymum aus

My little girl is six yrs going into seven years this August. She is healthy and has not had her first babies. Would she be in danger if I was to let her have a baby? Her mum passed away three years' ago due to bad vet, evil vet. Her brother passed away three months ago, her daddy, passed away two days' ago, due to a bad vet. We are so sad, she is so sad..we love her, she has the best of the world with as her family. She is so lonely, we worry she may fall into depression. She is indoor, she sleeps with me and my daughter. I will most buy her a little bunny to mother this Tuesday.

Regarding weight and breed
by: Julie Payne

I don't think she is overweight and she's a Velvet, fairly small. My buck is a Lion Head.
