No Rabbit Food

by Lee

What would you feed your rabbits if no commercial pellets or even hay was available? I'm thinking if everything was shut down and all you had was maybe a small garden.
Thanks Lee

Not a doubt in my mind that this is the question for every rabbit breeder.

Rabbits eat all green forages (non-poisonous), and bark and twigs during winter. Because of a rabbits' habit of running their meal through a second time (coprophagy), they can actually subsist on a sub-par diet, within reason.

Your 'small' garden won't last you *and* your livestock animals very long. You'll have to figure on scavenging from the neighborhood, the local park, mow the neighbor's yards and keep the clippings, etc.

If you're smart, you'll start now breeding for stock that can thrive in this manner, because TEOTWAWKI is a few years away at most. While you're at it, figure a way to protect your stock from passersby who think they're hungrier than you...

I hope you survive.
