My Rabbits kits died after birth

by Victoria
(London UK)

Hi, I adopted a rabbit, which was pregnant already, and had her babies on the 30th day, in the nest, however by the time I found out one of the kits out of two died already.

So I carefully checked the other kit and it looked fine.

I left it with the mom, and by the evening it was dead.

I changed the cage to a smaller cage and kept it inside, so that the baby gets the heat of mum, and is safe.

What could be the reason for its death?

Also the very next night the mother started to take off her fur again and was trying to make a nest again, is she expecting more babies? she had only two kits this time.

Regards,

Victoria
