Lop rabbits born dead

by Lydia
(New Zealand)

My rabbit just had a kindle of two and was her first litter and both I think were born dead as I have been checking regularly. What do you think may have gone wrong as she is a healthy rabbit and the kit were both good size?

Do you have any recommendations as what I can do to make sure this would not happen again...?

Sorry about the kits, Lydia. It is very difficult to say what might have gone wrong. Sometimes it just happens this way. If I took a wild guess, I'd wonder if the fact she had two large kits contributed to a difficult labor and the death of the kits.

The doe can be rebred right away. Hopefully the second time will go better for the doe and new litter.
