Kindling bunnies in the cold

by Joyce Foxworth
(South East, Texas)

It is very cold here, and it is almost time for my doe to deliver. I keep a mound of hay in her cage for her to burrow down into to keep warm. I also have her cage covered to keep out the wind since it is located under a pole barn. I placed the nest box into the cage today, but I am wondering if she will use it or just make a nest in the hay where she sleeps. I hate to remove her sleeping hay - I want her to keep warm. What should I do?

And, will I need to remove her offspring before she kindles again?
