Drug Withdrawal Time

Is it safe to send a rabbit to market, that had been treated for snuffles? He is about 15 weeks old, was treated by the vet, is back to good health. It's been about 3 weeks since his last dose of meds. Just want to know if we keep him for a life long pet now, or can he be butchered for meat?

Yes, you can send him to market...providing the full drug withdrawal time has passed. This is very important - consult the drug insert sheet (or the vet) and wait till enough time has elapsed.

Rabbits with snuffles are not condemned for eating (the processor will discard the lungs anyway). But the people who purchase the meat won't want to be eating any antibiotic residue left in the meat, especially if they happen to be allergic to it.
