Don't know where to set aside bunnies when checking nest?

by Amelia Leonard
(Los Banos, Ca, US)

I have a red mini rex doe that just had her babies last night at 4:45am on 12-9-11. I don't know where to set the kits when checking/handling them. I haven't touched them yet but I'm not quite sure how many kits there are. I need some advice.

You can pull the kits out of the burrow one by one, and set them in the front of the nest box. Or, if you're prepared with a second container with a towel perhaps, you can put them in there temporarily. Whatever works for you. You really should ensure the nest is all clean and no dead kits or placentas down in the burrow.

Have fun with the new litter!
