Cardboard Nesting Box?
Can you use a shoe box as a nesting box?

It'd sure be nice, wouldn't it?! But the typical cardboard shoe box would get chewed to smithereens by the average doe long before the kits were kindled. You can sure *try* a shoe box, especially if the doe is due NOW.
Better: if you don't have a metal or wood nest box, it might work better to purchase a cheap plastic dish pan that's around 6-8 inches deep, and wire it into place in the cage. This is to keep the doe from flinging the light-weight pan around the cage and spilling all the shavings and straw.
Yeah, she might chew on it a bit, but it should at least survive a few kindlings until you can buy or build a more suitable nest box.
