Are there more baby rabbits coming?

by Sera
(Montreal, Quebec, Canada)

I just want to begin with saying that you have a helpful site. And my question is: my rabbit gave birth this morning, there were 3 but one of them was dead. So now there is 2. But I can still feel some other babies in her belly, so I am not sure if she has more coming or not? And another question, is there anything special that I can feed the mother after birth?

Thanks! :-)
Occasionally we've had rabbits give birth to 1/2 of the litter on one night, and the other half the next night. But it's not common. It's possible she still has a few babies to deliver.

Give her some parsley - it should help her finish having her babies.

About feeding the doe, she has a special need for protein right now, in order to make milk to feed the babies. If possible, feed 18% protein rabbit pellets, all she can eat, until she has weaned the babies. Feeding a little bit of grass hay every day is also good. Grass hay is low in protein, but is important for healthy guts.

Enjoy your babies!
